Freedom of Information Act in Liberia passed

Liberia passed a Freedom of Information Act (FOI) late last year, and the Center for Media Studies and Peace Building held a meeting for public relations officers within government ministries and agencies, members of civil society and journalists.  The public relations officers “are custodians of some of the information that will be needed in the public domain,” according to an article in the Liberian Daily Observer, and the Act calls for the appointment of an Information Commissioner to supervise and oversee the implementation of the law.  The impact of the law on the national archives was not reported.
